The second OTR (On the Rise) release that’s caught my attention as showing potential. This one’s easy: The Art of Blacking Out came out in 2004, this is a reissue with a couple new tracks. A lot of it sounds dated, but people into The Get Up Kids will buy reissues of their early stuff, so why not a reissue of a band that could open for them? They’re from Jersey, pose on the boardwalk, hit most of the notes, sound a little gruff but not tuff, and they noddle between jump-around breakdowns. Get ’em on the mp3 CD.
