The Charms – Pussycat – Review

Pussycat (Red Car)
by Scott Hefflon

Perfect name for this Boston band. Batting two for two now. Seem to’ve missed the EP in the middle. Jumpy garage/soul band blending sex appeal and solid musicianship, without either being something they have to prove, ya know? Farfisa organ and sexy squeals, a bit of bad girl gruff, and some Go-Go’s harmonies. Paula Kelley and Kim Fowley are thanked, and they’ve played with Kay Hanley and The Ravonettes, so that oughtta clue ya in. Try to get ’em on the mp3 CD (again), cuz this band needs to be heard outside of Boston.
