The Glow
The Ghosts Are Out (Bankshot)
by Scott Hefflon
Hard to peg. They like the dark side of ska, which is less loathesome, perhaps (always liked The Specials’ dark underbelly, and wondered why everyone always focused on the happy, bouncy stuff), the singer has a distinctive voice, they’re kinda punk, they slather that one organ sound over everything, and writers keep mentioning old time rock’n’roll and Billy Joel. Elvis Costello is perhaps a better reference, because he’s dabbled in every kind of pop imaginable, and therefore it doesn’t clue you in much at all. They’re from Boston, this is their debut.
