Cutesy chick with “who, me?” vibe makes good as front-woman in an otherwise dude-inhabited outfit. European singer Ivona would make most rock chicks beam.
Thinking man’s Primal Fear, double bass-void Stratovarius (Kotipelto solo?), or the last couple of Maidens come to mind. Dependable, frilly-sleeved metal.
The fatalistic beauty seems more urgent. Dax’s vocals and guitar (both often distorted) and Tessie Brunet’s feral drumming and lovely harmony vocals are here.
Requiem is a dizzying display of melodic counterpoints and bittersweet hooks dressed up in beefy guitars. Filling the gap left by Jellyfish and Face To Face.
A few songs here are great. I don’t giddy over male/female indie rock, but infectious songs, cute and fun without being sticky-sweet are gems you dig for.
