The Static Age – Neon Nights Electric Lives – Review

Neon Nights Electric Lives (Tarantulas/ Bardic)
by Nick Maglione

There’s nothing more pathetic than an aging, bitter music critic who rips on bands just because he never did anything himself. That said, ripping can sometimes be fun, especially when warranted. And hell, when a record sounds even a little bit like David Hasselhoff-meets-L.A.-studio-band-circa-1987, it’s downright required. The Static Age are the embodiment of soulless, corporate drivel: Shallow hooks, silly image, and utter non-distinction. But maybe non-distinction is the point. After all, nobody wants to be held accountable for destroying rock ‘n’ roll.
