Nothing That A Bullet Couldn’t Cure (Small Stone)
by Scott Hefflon

Antler are most of Roadsaw, and being from Boston and having been thrown out of most every drinking hole in the city, I know people revere their Roadsaw. While Antler has rich vocals and lots of tips of the hat to classic rock (and Southern rock), it’s just too mired in mid-tempo and weak balladeering for my taste. Nothing really drags me off the bar stool. The greats had great songs and great delivery (which is why they were great), and Antler is just a bar rock band, a genre tribute band, if you will. It’s perfectly listenable, but it’s not dangerous or chaotic or soulful or tragic. Nothing to weep over, nothing to fight to, nothing to make love to.
