A lot lighter than my usual fare, but I know quality songwriting when I hear it. Funny what clues there are if ya look: Ads running in Punk Planet, Rockpile (er, which is gone now), DIW (Devil in the Woods), and No Depression. No Magnet? Yeah, classy Kansas indie rock featuring members of Ben Folds and My Morning Jacket. Something Beatles-esque in the drumming and harmonies, and I don’t offer that lightly. Kind of dry, classic production, and not a lot of “look at me!” fanfare, which is a nice change from all the bragging that’s par for the course in rock these days.
