Kaddisfly
Set Sail the Prairie (Hopeless)
by Scott Hefflon
Light, airy, progressive, creative, and melodic. Evidently, “marketing” has now come to mean “send lots of mass emails whenever the band farts and streams it on MySpace” because I’ve gotten five times more emails about this band than there are tracks on this CD. That doesn’t make the tunes any better or worse, just an annoyance and sure sign of being worried no one will cover the band on its own merit.
Relax, Kaddisfly is a pleasant band that makes me want to wear slippers and drink herbal tea and lazily tinker with things. But an aggressive emailing campaign (try print ads, banners, tracks on the mp3 CD, Jesus… Even UNSIGNED bands do banners and comp tracks) for a breezy band is uncalled for. I might have to revoke the band’s “Look, We’re Sensitive” membership card.
