I Am Ghost – Lover’s Requiem – Review

Lover’s Requiem (Epitaph)
by Scott Hefflon

I Am Ghost is one of those success stories that make bands toiling in obscurity contemplate murder. Story is, the band got signed to Epitaph from a burned demo when the band had been together all of two months, got it reissued and distroed, then played lots of Warped Tour dates. Uh, thing is, they still suck. All the popularity in the world only means there are a lot of suckers out here who’ll buy what they’re told to, cuz I Am Ghost is terrible.

Put it this way: In my circle of friends, there are a handfulla “well, at least it’s not as bad as XXX” references. One is Operation Dumbo Drop, one of the dumbest movies with good actors I’ve had the misfortune of seeing, and my friends will never ever forgive me for renting it. Another is Suicide Girls. “The Good Charlotte of altporn” as a friend of mine quipped, because I have funny friends. And then there’s I Am Ghost. They aren’t the butt of our jokes, cuz it’s simply not funny that people can’t seem to tell that they’re awful. They’re one of a handfulla reference points of mind-boggling stupidity we use to keep things in perspective. Britney shaving her head makes sense compared to I Am Ghost having more than 500 fans, relatives and coworkers included.
