Ooky Spooky (Projekt)

Goth is rarely funny intentionally. Voltaire is a funny guy, not to mention a creative and a versatile musician. Five records deep, Voltaire is always a good time, with humorous songs about zombies, dancing skeletons, and all kinds of ghoulish goodness. I don’t remember his music being this cabaret/swing/ragtime/klezmer/spaghetti-chamber. The bio namechecks Oingo Boingo’s “Dead Man’s Party” and “Hell” by the Squirrel Nut Zippers, as well as Cab Calloway. I’ll also toss in Rasputina in a silly mood, and Three Amigos. There’s a duet with The Dresden Dolls’ Amanda Plumber. It’s nice, but ya kinda expect more. Pretty consistently a fun, spooky ride.
