Shit, Lollipop got quoted in the bio (the only quote, which is both nice and kinda sad), but another reviewer must’ve done the review, cuz I’ve never had much need for Electric Wizard. They’re British doom/drone, distortion-heavy for the sake of being distortion-heavy, and the reverbed vocals make non-hit Sabbath tunes sound chipper. I like Pelican specifically because they’re heavy, yet instrumental. I’ll take Monster Magnet or a handfulla seething NOLA bands over EW any day. Go to StonerRock.com for all kinds of forum discussion about bands such as this, I’m simply too melody/songcraft-addicted to have much use for doom/sludge that doesn’t inspire me to shoot up, drink up, beat someone up, or get up outta my chair for any reason other than to switch to the next CD.
