Requiem Fortissimo (The End)
by Scott Hefflon

I usually like Virgin Black, but this album is a regression to the “bad doom” we all endured in the early ’90s. Stuff like this is why Tiamat’s debut, Wildhoney, was such a glorious breakthrough in 1994. Check out Tiamat or Paradise Lost or, on the artsy/ambient side, Antimatter, and let this sucker tank so the band returns to form next time around.
