Tiger Army – Review

Tiger Army

(Hellcat)
by Scott Hefflon

Oops, this gem almost got past me… Non-purist rockabilly (veering toward punk more than American roots music) from guitarist/vocalist Nick 13, stand-up bassist Rob Peltier (from The Quakes), and drummer Adam Carson (from AFI), a debut from a band to watch. While there’re moments drenched in reverb and paces crossing over into psychobilly, there are sweet melodies and trembling passion mixed amidst the Devil-on-my-heels flat-out runnin’. Sometimes the vocals waver like Funeral Oration (which is to say it makes ya think of Morrissey, Jello, and Roy Orbison all at the same time), and that’s a good thing. A band to keep yer eyes on.
