One Way Mirror – Review

“Rock metal” side project from members of Mnemic, Lyzanxia and Phase I, Soilwork, Scarve and Watcha. All bands have produced good underground metal, all have flirted with anthemic rock done with metal balls, here they collaborate. Most of the stuff here is pleasant, but not memorable, and some, of course, is terrible. “Passion rock” (emo rock, Creed, Lifehouse, Nickleback, choose your enemy) is a genre I hope goes away soon, but I’ve been hoping that for a while, and no one’s knee-capped Nicleback yet, and they aren’t tortured enough by their music (like we are) to develop heroin habits and O.D. already. (Oh, and there’s a cover of “Relax” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. I like Bloodhound Gang’s mixture of this, Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” and Falco’s “Rock Me Amadeus” far better. Called “Mope,” on Hooray For Boobies. If you don’t have it, get it or stop expressing an opinion until you do, dipshit.)
