Deep Sleep head to Europe – News

Deep Sleep head to Europe

Baltimore’s Deep Sleep will be venturing over to Europe for an extensive tour to support their debut album Turn Me Off, released earlier this year on Grave Mistake.

Turn Me Off was mixed/mastered by Stephen Egerton (All/ Descendents).  The album follows up Three Things at Once, a 21 song collection CD of the three 7” EPs the label previously released.

You can also check out some live footage of Deep Sleep here and here.

Deep Sleep have gained comparisons to Descendants/All, Chemical People, Hard-Ons and Mega City Four.

“A band that pay homage to the formative years of hardcore, Deep Sleep flesh out thrash like paces ala D.R.I with the melodic aspects to The Adolescents or The Descendents (this was even mastered by Stephen Edgerton), successfully finding the perfect balance between pummeling, abrasiveness and catchy, melodic fury. A sound rarely explored these days in present day hardcore punk, hearing all these influences sounds fresh again, and a great reminder as to just how influential and timeless this sound truly is.” – Tom Haugen of thebykerack.com

“If there was a current band that had to be the very definition of hardcore punk, Deep Sleep with their brash melodies and frantic energy would be the band that sets the standard for the genre.” – Tom Haugen of thebykerack.com

“Deep Sleep are the band that will renew your faith in hardcore punk that’s more than just macho posing and beatdowns and puts the emphasis firmly back on the ‘punk’ side. Deep Sleep could well be your new favourite band.” – Big Cheese Magazine

“Those songs are detailed but not overwrought, sometimes chaotic but never sloppy, having had all the fat trimmed from them but still offering enough to chew on – a balance that the entire band maintains for the entire LP, succeeding where lesser punk bands have often failed.” – Eric Friedman of Ghettoblaster Magazine #27

“Deep Sleep’s record collection is both enjoyable and short enough to prevent listeners from even trying to abide by its title’s advice.” – Scott Heisel of Alternative Press Magazine

“This is fast, no-nonsense melodic hardcore with brief, wanky riff wails modeled after Dag Nasty and early Descendents, though it’s got a noticeably improved spitshined recording.” – Scott Heisel of Alternative Press Magazine
