“Well They’re Gone,” the album’s first single, is a dark, mellow number, less reaching than The Kink’s classic “Alcohol,” but just as roomy, heartfelt, and simply beautiful. After 18 years and eight albums, yeah, The Dandy Warhols know how to get under your skin. This Machine‘s songs were written by multiple band members this time around, so it’s more a collection of songs than a fluid release.
