Ex-Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty (here playing guitar and singing) and Blowoff’s Rich Morel (here playing keys and singing) offer up a small, diverse, often darkly reverbed collection of mature cool. The nearly nine minute “Transmission” ebbs and flows like a less-stoned’n’fuzzed Spiritualized (who didn’t use sax, to my memory), with ’70s glam twinkle (Big Star is repeatedly referenced, did I just hear a glockenspiel?) and cosmic meanderings abound.
