Legendary punkers 7 Seconds release new album

It has been nearly nine years since legendary American hardcore punk band 7 Seconds released an album (2005’s Take It Back, Take It On, Take It Over!), but that’s about to change. “We’re clearly not a young, shiny, pretty group of dudes trying to set the world on fire any more but we’re also not stagnant, indifferent or settled and we still have loads of heart and energy that we feel the need to share with whomever is listening,” expresses frontman Kevin Seconds in advance of their new album Leave A Light On which saw a May 27, 2014 release on Rise Records.

The band will be playing select cities and festivals throughout May and June including Pouzza Fest in Montreal and Black N’ Blue Bowl in Brooklyn.

“Lyrically, I think I’m finally beginning to feel my middle-age set in and how it now carries over into how I think as a punk rocker and a grown up hardcore kid and where 7Seconds sits in the middle of it all,” explains Seconds of their 15th studio album Leave A Light On. The album was produced, engineered, and mixed by Steve Kravac (Blink-182, Less Than Jake, MxPx) at Hell’s Half Acre Studio in Southern California and mastered by Michael Hately (Neil Young, Green Day, Metallica, Flaming Lips).

The album contains 14 tracks of punk rock that are bursting with hardcore ethos. From the melodic title track “Leave A Light On” to the anthemic “Slogan On A Shirt” to the ’80s punk-infused “I Have Faith In You”, 7Seconds convey their wisdom and beliefs from a more organic place.

7Seconds was formed on January 17, 1980 in Reno, NV. They’re among the longest-lived of any group from the first wave of Cali punk. To date, they’ve released a multitude of EPs, albums, and have appeared on numerous compilations.

7Seconds is Kevin Seconds (vocals), Steve Youth (bass), Troy Mowat (drums), and Bobby Adams(guitar). Their new album Leave A Light On will be released on May 27, 2014 via Rise Records.
