Those used to Britpop Noel Gallagher – most of us – may not recognize “Dead to the World,” a sleepy, orchestral ditty that doesn’t aspire one to get their feet tapping, but to plant thy tail next to a rainy window and reflect on whatever the hell thou wants to. Wasn’t expecting anything good, but I was surprised. Tasteful. Synths, horns, strings – either/and/or – piano, vocals, a pensive piece that will run through your mind like the moribund London post-coronation blues. Noel uses his hazy, high-pitched vocals as an instrument on the song. A little sophisticated beauty from a man not necessarily known for it. The video can bring tears. Be ready.
