Ahead of upcoming release Thunderball, the Melvins 1983, Buzz Osborne, original Melvins drummer Mike Dillard, and others, drop “King of Rome.” The song, stonerish, features a repeating staccato guitar riff, Osborne’s voice sounding processed, a bit Rob Zombie-like, and, well, you know, a guitar solo at the halfway mark. This is heavy, but not “Honey Bucket” heavy. Is it any good? Who cares. It’s what you think that matters. In fact, it’s almost radio-friendly, especially the chords and phrasing on the chorus.
