There are more metal genres than anyone knows what to do with. Mexico’s Muto Tapes fits somewhere in the sludgy-death metal camp. I don’t usually favor extreme metal, which is odd considering this is Lollipop for God’s sake, but damn, “9 to 5” is evil-sounding and somehow catchy at the same time. The guitars are heavy, the drumming on point, the vocals guttural, but listenable. Maybe Muto Tapes is the gateway drug to Cannibal Corpse? Am I finally corrupting the youth?
