For what its worth, Chinchilla are the best out of the four new releases by collaborators Crisis Records and ex-straight-edge kingpins Revelation. What Revelation puts out these days is mainly guitar-driven, underground pop, for the most part ponderous and self-indulgent. What separates the San Diego all-girl quartet Chinchilla from this mess is that they’re fun in a bouncy yet art-damaged way. As hinted at before, however, the award for ‘Revelation 7″ of the Month’ is a tin trophy, if anything.
