Against my better judgment, here’s Stanley Simmons — yeah, those guys’ sons — releasing single “Body Down,” a folky, Crosby, Stills & Nash-like tune that deals with the metaphysics of death and features interesting percussion, a little piano/organ, and a mix of acoustic and electric guitars. But like all I’ve heard from them, the harmonies are the stars here. A far cry from their papa’s cock rock, it’s better than most of Kiss’ output. That’s not saying a lot (Kiss was my thing when I was little and Destroyer and Alive II are legitimately good records). Yes, these men (they are 31 and 36, respectively) have benefited from their famous dads in ways most of us can only imagine, but this isn’t bad.
