Cheeseburger – “Cool Tomato” – Review October 1, 1995 Irresistibly cool and simple. 4/4 beat, Stooges-like vocals.
The Potatomen – Cub/The Potatomen split- Review October 1, 1995 The Potatomen would make a fun instrumental surf band, but I have trouble getting into the melancholy “I godd a stufd ub dose” vocals.
Bloodloss – “Face Down In Mud” – Review October 1, 1995 Swing rock with sensual organs, harmonica, sexy tenor sax, night radio DJ twangy , and the slide guitars add just the right amount of sleaze.
Das Klown – Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha – Review September 1, 1995 A lot like California punk rock, circa 1980, of the fast, snotty, juvenile variety, such as Circle One or the Adolescents.
Crown Roast – “George” – Review September 1, 1995 Really ugly, belligerent sludge rock. This is the type of thing that your square friends can’t understand how anyone could enjoy listening to.
Bender – Music For Four Ears – Review September 1, 1995 I thought Bender was just going to be another Doc Hopper ripoff band. I was wrong. Catchy, addictive and displaying Bender’s unique style of punk greatness.
New Bomb Turks – “My Hopes Are Copacetic” – Review September 1, 1995 Saddle up, cook up some ribs, and don’t forget your dancing shoes.
HFL – “The Way It Is” / “I’m Dying Inside” – Review September 1, 1995 “I’m Dying Inside” stands out as the killer track with its vicious hardcore punk attack that packs a punch and is ready to explode.
Lint – “Too Few” – Review July 1, 1995 Only one side, wrapped in pink cellophane. The other side was glued to a Tony Bennett 7″. “Too Few” sounds like a mellow Hole song.
The Smoothies – The Smoothies and International Hoodwink- Play Their Respective Hits – Review July 1, 1995 The Smoothies are exactly that. Crammed with loud bass and lots of drums, the female vocals tell a story I could listen to again and again.
