When they’re noisy, they sound like other rock indie rock (non-screamo) bands, and when they’re soft, they remind me of other bands I wanna play instead.
Pepper’s Ghost is so pretty and shiny, displaying all the right elements of pop rock and ’70s Brit glam, but they’ve got the integrity of studio musicians.
Always a pleasant foray into Beatles dippy psychedelic pop. They’ve had “eclectic” concept albums and can sing silly lyrics without being trendy ironic.
On the label run by a guy in Thursday, and you can see why. Same melodic/anthemic indie rock with meandering guitar noodle, strong choruses, and keyboards.
Female-fronted cybermetal groove. Breathy and sexy, then howling like a fuckin’ banshee. Vocals are way upfront. But she sounds hot, so she can be upfront.
I expected more, given the all-stars: Soundgarden, Wellwater Conspiracy (same thing, what a let down), Pearl Jam, Mark Lanegan Band, Monster Magnet, and more.
Part harmonied powerpop (verses, choruses, everything seconded), part screamo. Melodies are nice, there’re two of everything, and screamo can go fuck itself.
