The riffs are heavy, the tempo is perfect for all them karate experts in the pit, and there’s plenty of “fuck shit up!!” gang shouts to point your fingers to.
The highlight is the dug deep groove of “To Know One,” which somehow combines Sabbath, Savatage, and Aerosmith funk and flips itself into a suicide dirge.
Drama is created with bass and drum barrages, all laced with Middle Eastern flavors, or more accurately, middle British flavours of a grimly vampiric nature.
Divine Empire have all the requisite skills for nasty death metal: they’re fast and vicious, have loads of blast beats, crushing vocals, and skillful playing.
It’s a somewhat uneven, but entertaining, little package with pristine production, bound to make the brutal black metallers writhe in anti-commercial pain.
