Napalm Death – with Obituary, Machine Head at Club Babyhead – Review October 1, 1994 Napalm Death bludgeon the crowd with the most intense core heard in a while. Their road experience showed and shined through their ever-so-tight set.
Machine Head – with Obituary, Napalm Death at Club Babyhead – Review October 1, 1994 Machine Head proved themselves worthy of the opening slot. This is metal for the ’90s, pure power and feel.
John Monopoly – with Chucklehead, Rippopotamus at Local 186 – Review October 1, 1994 Possessing one of the tightest drummer/bass combinations I’ve yet seen in a local band, John Monopoly completely blew my mind.
Inhale Mary – at The Middle East Cafe – Review October 1, 1994 There is a potent sincerity to the angst-ridden music. They are able to breathe new life into the overworked power-grunge format.
Greg Ginn – at The Middle East Cafe – Review October 1, 1994 He even did a few Black Flag tunes. “Depression,” for one, a song I never thought I’d hear live. Damn, that made my year.
Foundations Forum 1994 – at the Burbank Hilton – Review October 1, 1994 It was a three day party and fest of metal that was fun in every aspect, including the schmoozing from all directions.
Evelyn Swoons – with Mercy Rule, Zuzu’s Pedals at T.T. the Bear’s – Review October 1, 1994 The quirky, half-naked singer with funky hair writhed and either sang weird, dissonant melodies, or he missed a lotta notes. A good groove.
Chucklehead – with John Monopoly, Rippopotamus at Local 186 – Review October 1, 1994 This band has no leash on their horn section. They rip. The drum/bass connection was earthy and solid. The gorilla costumes they came out in were a nice touch.
Big Red Crush – with 6L6 at Local 186 – Review October 1, 1994 A relatively new act started by drummer E.K., they are a chronic throb of energy on stage and fully command their audience.
6L6 – with Big Red Crush at Local 186 – Review October 1, 1994 Condo still writes all the lyrics, but on at least three of the CD’s new songs, the music was written by his bandmates.
