I’ve only heard of three of 23 bands, and those are the ones from the U.S. Lots are from Belgium. Bad Casio-petting electropoop, like a bad open mic night.
Offers two tracks apiece from each band, one hit and one shit (in most cases, there’s a reason why it’s unreleased), but it surely sounded like a good idea.
The one-sheet boasts “Artists include Rancid, Bad Religion, NOFX, and Pennywise,” a quick scan of bands shows an infiltration of hipster bands and garage rock.
A three-day event of heavy groovin’ bands. “Stoner Rock” being a heavy liquid amalgam of Sabbath, Soundgarden, Skynyrd, Sleep, Scientists, and ’72 (the year).
The interviews and behind the (non)scene stuff is a good look at what it actually is. The pacing is good and the interviews are telling and straight up.
Though I’ve never heard of the show, it would seem, by the host of celebrities and hipsters who appear on the DVD and claim to be fans, plenty of others have.
