Funny how normative-rockist-duhish this is. Like the riff from Kiss’ “God of Thunder” or Deep Purple’s “Highway Star” hijacked by Rammstein and Jello-ized.
They’re a riot. They can play, write good songs, you can sing along and bop. It’ll be the secret of real punks mocking the fake punks, the way it should be.
The self-imposed label of “queer punk” is a little shaky. Total Entertainment! is about as punk as The Go-Gos were. Still, the guys have come far as songwriters.
Problem is, the songs don’t quite live up to their titles. In fact, Fleshies kinda suck, no matter what Biafra says about “what punk rock was supposed to be.”
They’re still hammering low-end rhythmic blasts, pretty technically adept, and creative, still pissed off about the same things, and on top of their game.
