Moonspell – Wolfheart – Review

Moonspell

Wolfheart (Century Media)
by Scott Hefflon

I’m a sucker for bands that can blend atmospheric Goth/doom interludes and metal power. Moonspell may be young and have certain immature song structures, but they show promise through sheer diversity. Some of the melodies are standard for the genre, and the inherent potential of the instruments isn’t really maximized, but the whole sound pulls together with the bombarding of elements. Waldemar Sorychta (Tiamat, Samael, Grip Inc.) produced this (despite lack of credit), so you know it’s monstrous and beautiful.
