Big Lick – Review

Big Lick

by Nik Rainey

It may be standard-issue horns-‘n’-whistles-‘n’-baseball-caps white-boy ska, but Big Lick goes through their paces as well as any of their contracted contemporaries. Nice jazzy intros on “Untimely Groove” and “It Be, We Be.” Cool tempo shifts and odd lyrics on “Dead Girlfriend,” and buoyant infectiousness throughout, make this a sure candidate for heavy frat-party rotation. Tastes good with no chalky aftertaste.
