Veldt – Universe Boat – Review

Veldt

Universe Boat (Yesha, Inc.)
by Chris Adams

I don’t think there’s any harm in being a throwback. There’s been a ton of great rock music created over the past 40 years, and there’s plenty in the past to celebrate and emulate. However, the risible Glass Tiger is not one of them. Remember that shit song “Don’t Forget Me When I’m Gone?” Veldt seem dead set on recreating the same kind of wonderbread euro-alterna-soul that made my dentist a rich man. Same old overproduced, layered, chiming guitars, overwrought attempts at passionate vocals, sung, in this case, by a guy whose falsetto sounds like Andi Sex Gang trying to sound like Johnny Lydon fronting a fledgling U2. Whatever. I’ve already wasted an hour of my life on this bland piece of crap. Make up your own fucking mind. Record reviews are the most pointless artform in the world, if they even qualify, and all music writers, including me, are jaded assholes.
