The Queers – Bubblegum Dreams – Review

The Queers

Bubblegum Dreams (Lookout!)
by Joshua Brown

Anyone who has followed the career of the Queers and is presented with a new seven-inch release of theirs, will have one question plaguing his/her/its mind: “Does dis have dem dere punk rock songs dat makes me wanna cry tears of dumb joy like Love Songs For the Retarded, or is this another strained and tedious affair like Move Back Home?” Upon listening, they’ll find that it’s the inherent “rightness” of releases like Bubblegum Dreams that have earned the Queers the privilege of recording an inordinate number of Beach Boys cover tunes, and a spot next to Screeching Weasel as torch-carriers of the Ramones’ tradition.
