New singer, Jack Ruby, was less dancehall-style than his predecessor, Coolie Ranx, and easily filled the void with his deep, baritone voice and stage charisma.
I like their final song, “Just Askin’,” a pretty, poppy, horn-driven, and upbeat number. The horns were pretty tight, but the performance lacked enthusiasm.
Another testament to the catholic tastes of Endless Zilch majordomos Rick Rubin and Henry Rollins, ladling out generous helpings of their latest re-ishes.
Two decent covers: “Love is All Around” by R.E.M., and Season of the Witch” by Luna. The throwaways are done by Wilco, Ben Lee, Jewel, and Bettie Serveert.
DFL was awesome, yet the crowd had no response. I would like to apologize to DFL, on behalf of the State of Connecticut, for the audience’s lack of enthusiasm.
