Dead Family – We Are A Dead Family – Review

Dead Family

We Are A Dead Family
by Nik Rainey

(an excerpt from Hoarse Platitudes, by Mr. Hojo Raisin:)
Writers tapping feet and
The deadline of the FreeZine
Looming with column space agape.
He played the tape…
Is your computer warm?
The Dead Family is about to perform.
Wake up!
You can’t remember what to write
Is this “punk-pop?”…
Not to rip the Doors’
Waiting for the Sun
Nothing left to do, but
Let the tape run
Let it run…
Dead Morrison’s corpse in the singer’s voice
The writer doesn’t have much choice
C’mon along, the piece is nearly done
Have I referenced yet Waiting for the Sun?
My in-laws blanched when I played this tape
They’d much rather listen to Moby Grape
I grinned, “oh, well,” and played it again
Hell, it worked for the Bunnymen…
I am the demo king.
I can review anything.
