D.O.A. – NYC Speedcore – Review

D.O.A.

NYC Speedcore (Earache)
by Chaz Thorndike

Similar to Delta 9 in the hardcore techno sounds, D.O.A. (Disciples of Annihilation) has one very specific element that distinguishes them from the rest (at least this month): they’re from New York and fuckin’ proud of it. You don’t have to be a genius to pick up on the accents of some of the samples chosen, nor the music clips layered in the tracks. It all reeks of New York. Like Johnny Violent, D.O.A. blenders the segments together in a non-stop, all-out, over-the-top style. What they lack in any form of dynamic, they make up for with great samples, sensory-overwhelming depth and layering of elements, and enough BPMs to make you grab your favorite uppers and press fast forward on your brain.
