Sometimes it’s not OK to be stuck in the ’80s. Big Electric Cat is a prime example of this. Taking a hunk of new wave and a firm belief that the only two bands that ever existed were the Chameleons (UK) and the Mission (UK), Big Electric Cat record a new album about being real depressed. The songs are OK if you’re into this sort of thing, but I’m into this sort of thing and I thought it sucked. At least they don’t sound like IKON. I understand they were trying to sound like Joy Division would if they were still around. Go see The Wedding Singer, you’ll like the ’80s more after seeing that.
