Knapsack – This Conversation is Ending Starting Right Now – Review

Knapsack

This Conversation is Ending Starting Right Now (Alias)
by Tim Den

It took me a couple listens to really get into this. Now I just can’t stop myself from humming the damn tunes. Knapsack (I can’t say that name without thinking of Beavis and Butt-head. “Huh-huh, I said ‘sack'”) delivers textured indie rock, driven by guitarists Sergie Loobkoff (also a founding member of Samiam) and Blair Shehan’s knowledge of melody.

Riff-heavy yet symmetrical in its arrangement, the songs are muscular in their punch and catchy in their sensibilities. The two guitarists are rarely doing the same thing, adding a whole other dimension to the compositions by giving them subtle undertones. Songs such as “Change is all the Rage,” “Skip the Details,” and “Arrows to the Action” will not only have you swaying back and forth uncontrollably to the rhythms, they’ll send you searching for your inner child.
