One of those talents that always seems to fly under radar (they usually only make the top tens of people trying to show off), The Chubbies (aka Jeannette) is a songwriter’s songwriter who knows how to strip away all the gunk (or not add it in the first place), writing songs so simple and beautiful you say, “I could do that!” Genius is usually obvious in retrospect, not to call Jeannette a genius or anything so irrelevant, but she sure can write a pretty song. She’s been on a major, a slew of reputable indies, and toured with The Muffs, Cub, Frosted (ex-Go-Go’s, if I remember correctly), and countless others. And she covered The Knack’s “Good Girls Don’t” on the KPNK comp. Cool, huh?
