The Scrimmage Heroes – Nothing Comes Clean – Review

The Scrimmage Heroes

Nothing Comes Clean (Offramp)
by Scott Hefflon

As the debut release for Buck-O-Nine’s Jon Pebsworth’s Offramp Records as well as for The Scrimmage Heroes (featuring ex-Big Drill Car guitarist Mark Arnold), Nothing Comes Clean is bound to attract attention. The band’s from Orange County and’ll be opening for B-O-N’s next tour (or did on last tour, whatever). People’ve been lining up to say nice things about them but I can’t find a hell of a lot to say about them, other than that they’re OK, I get some kind of early Down By Law vibe from them (the thick vocals, perhaps?), they write songs that fall just shy of memorable, and they cover Mission of Burma’s “Academy Fight Song.”
