Crispus Attucks was the first person, a Black guy incidentally, to be killed in the Revolutionary War. Crispus Attucks is a hardcore punk band from DC that sounds like the ’90s never happened. Without being retro, they take the “old school” sound, plug in current complaints, and throw a tantrum the likes of which most of us haven’t seen since the “early daze” when there was no money in punk. Seeing as it didn’t get ya laid very much (mostly the same “skate skanks” all the other dirty punks were fuckin’) and ya took shit from jocks, ‘necks, parents, cops, and other punks (everyone’s a poser but you, remember?), the only reason to be in a punk band was cuz you couldn’t play very well and you were pissed at pretty much everything you saw. Crispus Attucks brings it all back: anger directed at anything stupid enough to cross your path, violence and vandalism simply cuz it’s better than carving up your arm again or joining the football team with the other neo-fascist “team players.” …Destroy the Teacher is simple, no-bullshit, and non-preachy.
