River City High – Forget Their Manners – Review

River City High

Forget Their Manners (Big Wheel Recreation/Doghouse)
by Tim Den

This reissued EP is actually a lot better than River City High‘s recent effort, Richmond Motel. There’s more depth in the playing and synchopations, fewer clichés but still plenty of predictable big hooks. Every song has a tambourine backing (or someone really messed with the hi-hat sound), giving it that supposed ’80s feel. I feel like I should be watching No Retreat, No Surrender when I listen to this. Which is to say that I don’t hate it, and it sure sounds like it came from a decade ago.
