Slick Shoes
Wake Up Screaming (Tooth & Nail)
by Scott Hefflon
Sensitive boy punk about high school and girls. Lyrics are provided, and it’s pretty much the typical teenager-searching thing with an undercurrent of thankful-for-my-life motif that makes sense when ya read the credits and everyone thanks God first and foremost. Musically, Slick Shoes are not as fast as before (less of the stuttering NOFX riffs), and while I guess they’re branching out a bit, it doesn’t really grab me the way previous songs have. They’re sounding like MxPx the slower they get. And while this is produced at The Blasting Room by Bill, Stephen and Jason, it doesn’t really sound like it.
