Strung Out – The Element of Sonic Defiance – Review

Strung Out

The Element of Sonic Defiance (Fat)
by Scott Hefflon

An eight-song, 25-minute EP to tide over their ravenous fans until their next full-length (by punk standards, probably 30 minutes long). While I’ve always respected the band’s ability (when pop-punk was the thing, they played melodically so fast it was hard to keep up, and when post-hardcore was the thing, they impressed by sucking less than most bands in that genre), I’ve never gotten what they’re about. “Expect the unexpected.” Yeah, whatever. But their cover of Ozzy’s “Bark at the Moon” on the Punk Goes Metal comp stomped my ass, so I’m willing to sit through this EP. Hey kids, love Strung Out? Here’re eight more songs!
