Joan Of Arc – How Can Any Thing So Little Be Any More? – Review

Joan Of Arc

How Can Any Thing So Little Be Any More? (Jade Tree)
by Tim Den

Eight “songs” pulled from The Gap sessions. As with the album, you either think Joan Of Arc had become a complete mess by their end, or pure abstract geniuses. It’s really a tough call with these guys cuz you know there’s talent in the bunch (Tim Kinsella’s solo recordings, Mike Kinsella’s American Football), but… how are you supposed to take an entire four minutes of white noise (opening track “Leaving Needn’t Take Long”) or some random monologue of a little girl singing to herself (“We Neither Hide Nor Seek,”)? I guess I respect their wild approach, but give me crafty songwriting any day.
