Moods For Moderns – Loud & Clear – Review

Moods For Moderns

Loud & Clear (Doghouse)
by Tim Den

Moods For Moderns have really done their homework. Musically referencing everything that ruled in the world of ’60s guitar pop – i.e. Badfinger and Jackie Lomax – they nail the fuzzy riffs and vintage drum sounds as if they took ’em right off of an old record. Plenty of ozzin-ah backup harmonies and a few nods to Sloan later… you’ve got the kind of great, crunchy pop record that no one seems to make anymore. Raise Supergrass under the influence of Detroit attitude and you’ve got this combo of sweetness and denim rock.
