Despite the less-than-convincing production, Withered Earth is a menacing mixture of the most bad-ass Malevolent Creation-style breakdowns and Incantation’s shrieking riffs. Constantly changing, but never losing its pit-inducing nature, every second of Into the Deepest Wounds whips up a hailstorm of fists and sweaty flying kicks. Along with Dying Fetus, Withered Earth represents the next generation of death metal/hardcore that is as brutal as it is catchy and inventive.
