Yellowcard
One for the Kids (Lobster)
by Tim Den
Yellowcard, although sentimentally-heavy and eager to dish out sugary breakdowns, take their cues from the real deal: Whippersnapper, No Use For A Name, etc. Accessible vocal melodies that – if watered down – could be mistaken for A New Found Glory’s, interesting guitar arrangements, and what is now the emopunk pre-requisite of strings/pianos, all add up to a fine young band willing to stretch the limits of the new “boy bands of punk” formula.
