Elbow – Asleep In the Back – Review

Elbow

Asleep In the Back (V2)
by Tim Den

No, they’re not as good as the British press would have you believe… But still, there’s no denying that Elbow‘s balance of heroin grooves, disembodied vocals, and haunting melodies create a misery that you can’t help but be intrigued by. Like waking up the day after your lover left you… with a hangover cracking your skull and overcast skies out your window. Head-in-hand, drawing-a-blank moodiness that’s addictive in a masochistic way. A venture into bleaker British pop territory that, although not superb, reaps its own rewards.
