Cave In – Review

Cave In

(HydraHead/RCA)
by Tim Den

Here it is folks, the last “indie” release from stars-to-be Cave In. As they wrap up their upcoming full-length for RCA, we’re blessed with these two tracks as a preview of things to come. And what a sight they represent! All the drama, exploration, and bombast of Jupiter, focused tighter around “poppier” songwriting (meaning no more eight-minute prog epics) and guitarist/vocalist Steve Brodsky’s flamboyant-but-smooth vocals. “Lost in the Air,” complete with trademark Cave In staccato grooves, is sure to be a radio hit. If the album sounds anything like this EP, you can bet they’re gonna be bigger than nü metal. Amen to that.
